Karnali blues is a heartwarming coming of age story of a young boy. It is full of stories about childhood's hilarious mischief, the pain of losing friends and the fear of adulthood as you watch your seemingly invincible father grow old and the world around you change for the worse. The difficulties faced by the family due to the country's civil war is written with so much delicacy so as not to invoke the political agenda, which is not this book's intention.

I have teared up trying to stop myself from laughing out loud in an airplane reading about "Santoshi Ba Harsha Bahadur" and then again had a hard time stopping my tears after going through his life's heartbreaks. It was truly delightful to read a good book in Nepali after a long time. A beautiful and heart melting depiction of real life struggles of Nepalis who have spent their life time waiting to evidence development and progress. Words fall short to describe how the author's writing stirs reader's emotion since the beginning and it only intensifies as the story progresses. Furthermore, the author's simplistic language and usage of words are spot on.

Probably in my opinion, the best nepali novel. It represents the life of a boy from toddler to a grown up man and his prospect of world from his eye. The relationship between a father and child is portrayed in best way. It represents the hardships of family and the problem faced by migration to various places. Mar 03, Nirmal Karki rated it really liked it. I don't read Nepali literature much so, I don't know whether this was a great book from literary point of view or not.

But I feel, while reading any book if you can feel the character's emotion, then the book did it's job.

And that's exactly what this book did to me. Good book. Great writer, Buddhisagar.
